Richmond, TX> The Fort Bend Subsidence District Board of Directors approved the 2017 Annual Groundwater Report at the May 23, 2018, regular Board meeting. The report details the use of groundwater and other alternative sources of water within Fort Bend County in 2017 and includes the context of water use data collected by the District since enacted in 1989. Other data included in the report includes estimated subsidence rates from the Districts subsidence monitoring network, aquifer water-level information provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, and climatic data provided by the National Climatic Data Center. In general, areas of highest subsidence rates include northern and western Harris County and Northern Fort Bend County (regulatory area A). Subsidence was also noted in nearby Brazoria and Harris Counties.
